A member of the varsity cheer squad and the FFA chapter at Skiatook High School, Addi Freeny first got involved with FFA when she was in the eighth grade.

“My love of animals is what encouraged me the most to get involved in FFA, along with me wanting to try something new,” said Freeny.

Anyone who has spent time in FFA will tell you there are many activities and things to get involved in as a member. For Freeny, she loves showing animals and being part of the community outreach program.

“I love learning new things about agriculture and creating new bonds with fellow classmates. I am involved in showing livestock and community outreach. I show cattle. She is a Hereford heifer; her name is Hot Tamale,” said Freeny.

Now a junior in high school, Freeny said anyone interested in FFA should jump in and give it a try.

“Joining FFA will be one of the best choices you’ll ever make, you will make some of the best friendships, you’ll learn to be a better person, and you will also learn so much about leadership, and one last thing you’ll always be having fun,” said Freeny.

Not just a member of the cheer team, Freeny is involved in STUCO and National Honor Society.

“I love our coaches, they are always putting so much time and effort into our cheer team, I also love the environment we have, it is always a fun and positive environment. I love my team because we always support each other and are always encouraging each other to do better,” said Freeny.

Freeny said her mother has been a big influence in her life.

“A big influence in my life would probably be my mom, she has always been there for me when I’ve needed her, she has always pushed me to keep going, and she has and always will support me. When I graduate, I plan on going to college and peruse my dream career being a Labor and Delivery Nurse,” said Freeny.
