Skiatook’s Noah Harper – Track & Field Spotlight – Presented by Rib Crib

Noah Harper has gotten off to a fast start early in his track career at Skiatook High School. Harper, who just completed his sophomore year and also plays football for the Bulldogs, reached the Class 4A Track & Field State Championships for a second straight year, qualifying for the 110 meter hurdles event.

He was a regional champion in the 110 meter hurdles in May, running a 15.61. He finished seventh at the state meet with a time of 15.76 after running a 15.51 in the preliminaries. “My speed and grit are what help me the most during both track and football,” Harper said. “I won’t quit, not when I’m ahead even more so when I’m behind.”

On the gridiron, Harper plays linebacker under head coach Vance Miller. As a freshman, he registered 47 total tackles across seven games. Harper looks forward most to seventh hour at school where he can unite with his teammates.

“My teammates mean everything to me. We win together in football and they support me to the fullest in track,” he said. “I love getting up and going to school, knowing that 7th hour is practice time. That’s what I look forward to everyday. I don’t care if practice was good or bad that day. I always learn something new, get better at one play, get out of the blocks faster, or become stronger as a whole.” During his free time, Harper enjoys playing video games or watching movies with his mom.
